Farm Machinery Assembly Technician – Christchurch

We are currently looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Farm Machinery Assembly Technician to join our Canterbury team, just outside of Rolleston.

This role involves mechanical work, assembly, equipment preparation, deliveries, and yard maintenance. The ideal candidate will have some mechanical knowledge, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Mechanical knowledge and experience working with Farm machinery.
  • Ability to assemble and set up farm equipment.
  • Comfortable with water blasting and cleaning machinery.
  • Experience operating a tractor for deliveries.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Mechanical Work: Perform basic mechanical tasks, including troubleshooting and minor repairs.
  • Assembly: Assemble new machinery according to specifications.
  • Equipment Preparation: Water blast and clean used machines to prepare them for sale.
  • Deliveries: Safely transport equipment using a tractor.
  • Container Unloading: Assist with unloading shipments and organising inventory.
  • Yard Maintenance: Keep the yard tidy and organised to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.

 Waikato Service Technician

Farmchief Machinery Ltd is looking for a Service Technician extraordinaire to join our hard-working and fun-loving team at our Waikato branch, in Cambridge.

While we do have lots of fun, we work hard too. The primary responsibility of our Service Technician is to perform diagnostics, service repairs & maintenance work on customer & dealer-owned agricultural equipment. Also, assist with field service as required.
 
Key duties:

  • Diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on many types of machinery.
  • Test machinery and record or communicate issues to either the customer or manager.
  • Use of electronic monitors, software, computers to calibrate and operate machinery.
  • Replace parts and keep detailed records of all work done.
  • Ensure that the correct labour & parts are recorded accurately.
  • Keep the work area tidy, including company vehicles, especially to ensure the safety of yourself & all team members.
  • Communicate with the manager about timeliness of job
  • Ordering of parts to ensure job completed in timely order
  • Maintain communication with the customer relative to the work being carried out. Make recommendations for additional work that needs to be completed.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team. This includes assisting & sharing knowledge with other staff. Be respectful of all staff and customers.
