Features and Benefits

In widths of 6-12m, the Diskator is designed to be able to be used as a primary or secondary cultivator. This high-speed incorporator increases your productivity on the farm whether it is working down ploughing, incorporating stubble, or attacking a grass paddock, the Diskator has all bases covered. Mounted with 560mm discs with a breakout force of 180kg it makes for a very impressive machine. In addition, the Diskators sealed bearings mean you’ll get years of hassle free use.

Then, stepping up a notch: The Diskacrop. This is for situations when there is a large amount of trash or you need seriously deep working. Mounted with 660mm discs at a spacing of 265mm, the Diskacrop is a machine that stops for nothing, whether in wet conditions or seemingly impossible trash situations, (wet maize stubble springs to mind), this machine will handle anything. So, be prepared for better, more productive, soil.

Testimonials

Hugh’s view

Hugh Ritchie of Drumpeel Farms, Otane in Central Hawkes Bay runs a 2050 hectare operation. It includes 800 hectares of process vegetables, cereals and seeds, with the remainder being used for livestock finishing.

The Silver Ferns Farms Hawkes Bay Farmer of the Year for 2014, (with wife Sharon), and a past Nuffield Scholar, Hugh is committed to sustainability and protecting the soil. He direct drills and practices predominantly strip or minimum tillage.

He initially bought a cultivator from FarmChief for remedial work and levelling. It was “not so good”. However, he says he appreciates the way the company stood behind the sale and found a good solution, setting him up with his current, 6 metre Diskacrop speed discs. “We’ve found them a whole lot better. We’re very happy with the new ones.”

The Diskacrop is used to incorporate maize stubble, soon after harvest, alleviating problems including strong spring winds blowing stubble, in drifts, that reach fence tops. “We use it to get stubble anchored.” Hugh says the implement also comes in handy for levelling paddocks after carrots, especially after a wet harvest.

Hugh says he was most impressed by FarmChief being prepared to make an effort to find what would do the job for him. “It’s the type of service that makes you want to continue to work with the company.”

In fact, Hugh also recently went on to buy a bed-former for process carrots from FarmChief.
